Mr. Blubaugh's Profile

Social Studies
Biography and credentials of Robert Blubaugh: Hello! I am Mr. Blubaugh and my subjects at RCHS are World History, Psychology and Sociology. The 2009-10 school year is my twenty-fifth year with Rensselaer schools. It took me twenty-two years to make it to the High School from the Middle School! I taught Computer Applications at RCMS from 1984 â?? 2006. Prior to teaching in the Rensselaer schools I taught at North White High School from 1979 â?? 1984 and my subjects there included World History, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, Business Law and Current Events. I also served as an assistant football coach, a head track coach, and coach / sponsor of the chess club. Other teaching experience included five years as a Civil Service Instructor (Master Instructor) of Aerodynamics and Aviation Mechanics and as an Instructor of Non-Destructive Inspection Technology (NDIT) for the Department of Applied Aerospace Science â?? Air Training Command â?? USAF at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Illinois. During the 1978-79 and 1981-82 school years I worked for the Ball State University London Center and lived in London, England. While living in London we traveled extensively throughout all England, Wales and Scotland. We also toured in Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Monaco, France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and the former Soviet Union (Russia). More recently our family traveled back to the United Kingdom and Paris, France in 2004. In 2007 we also traveled to Prague, Czech Republic. I LIKE TO TRAVEL! I believe my travel experience gives me a unique perspective for teaching World History. I hope to be able to travel to the UK in 2010 to study the Industrial Revolution. Education credentials include a 2006 Certificate in Personnel and Human resource Management from Purdue University Calumet, a 1979 Masters in Education degree in Computer Applications â?? Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana / Champaign, a 1973 Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education â?? World History, Psychology, Sociology from Ball State University, and a 1971 Associate of Science degree in Secondary Education from Vincennes University. I fully embrace the concept of life-long learning! Family life is important to me. My wife is Susan (Endress) Blubaugh. Susan was originally from Elkhart, Indiana. We met as undergraduate students at Ball State University in 1972. We married in 1976. Susan is a Speech (Public Speaking) and English teacher at Lowell High School. We have three children, daughter Carmen (26), graduate of Florida Atlantic University 2006 and presently a graduate student at Indiana University â?? Bloomington, daughter Camille (24), graduate of Indiana University 2009 and presently serving with Americorp in Randle, Washington, and son Kieran, a senior in the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University â?? Bloomington. British sports cars are a special interest I pursue. I have owned a 1977 MGB (named â??Chiquitaâ??), a 1963 MGB, a 1955 Triumph TR2, and my current hobby car is a 1970 â??split bumperâ?? MGB. I like all sports and antique cars, but I can only afford (and store) one at a time. The hobby cars I have owned have been of modest value. Iâ??ll buy an â??old clunkerâ?? and with my limited skills I fix what I can to improve the condition of the car. When something major goes wrong I will take my losses and sell it to at a bargain price some one with greater talent and resources for doing restorations. What I enjoy most about the hobby is organizing and participating in club rallies and driving events. I like to organize a driving event around a historical theme. I belong to the Hoosier MGB Club, the Wabash Valley British Sports Car Club of Terre Haute, Indiana, the Maddogs and Englishmen British Car Club of Southwest Michigan, the Illinois Flatland British Car Club, and the North American MGB Registry. The formative years of my life were in the small town of Bowling Green in Clay County Indiana. I graduated from Clay City High School in 1969 where we were known as the 'Clay City Eels.' The teachers I respected most in High School were Mr. John Mercer (Psychology and US History) and Mrs. Delilah Boyce Brown (English). In High School I participated in Basketball, Track & Field, Junior and Senior class plays, FFA, and I was an eleven-year member of 4-H. On the home front, we raised purebred Berkshire hogs and we exhibited our herd at the Illinois State Fair, Indiana State Fair, and Kentucky State Fair and at many regional and national Berkshire shows. We had several state and national champion animals in the Berkshire shows. The 'home place' was a small farm of fifteen acres on hills and hollows with no tillable ground. For several years we raised about ten thousand broiler chickens before we expanded our swine herd. My father was a veteran of the 82nd Airborne - Parachute Infantry Regiment where he had combat jumps in North Africa, Italy, Normandy (France), and Holland (Belgium) during World War II. He worked in the sawmill business and in the deep shaft and surface coal mines of west-central Indiana. My mother was from a suburb of Manchester, Lancashire, England, UK. She was also a veteran of World War II and served in the Royal Signal Corps of the Auxiliary Territorial Services of Great Britain. For many years she worded as a long distance telephone operator for GTE. Rensselaer has been my home since 1983. It has been a very good place to live, to work, and to raise a family. I am thankful for having had the opportunity to serve the Rensselaer school community. I am undecided about when and where I will retire, but I hope to have many years of continued service to the Rensselaer Central School Corporation.

Fine Arts
Welcome to RCHS! I'm Mrs. Stephanie Davisson. This is my seventh year teaching music and fine art classes for the Rensselaer school system. This is my fifth year as the Varsity Girls Golf Coach. I grew up in Rensselaer and graduated from RCHS in 1985, this year I celebrated my 25th reunion. In high school I varsitied in sports like golf, discus and shot in track, and was part of the sectional winning girl's basketball team. I also participated in musicals every year and sang with the competitive show choir 'Celebrate'. I enjoyed clubs like chess club, Sigma digamma, Bomber alert core, as well as speech club, and Sunshine. It is nice to know that several of these clubs still are going strong at RCHS. I have a Bachelor Degree in Music Performance(Voice Training)and a Teaching Certificate in Music Education from Methodist (NC) and Saint Joseph College (IN). I am presently working on certification training to work with High Ability and Gifted learners at Purdue. I did live in North Carolina for 15 years before coming back to Indiana. There my husband, Tod and I began our family. We have three wonderful children; Terry-20, Ben-18, and Katie-16. Favorite quote: 'Effort does not require Talent' You can find this quote hanging in the football locker room at Western Michigan University where my son Terry plays football.
